Pablo Lopez, Juarez inscribed - Rogers & Spencer - cartridge conversion revolver, possibly Mexican Revolution associated. - .44 rimfire, 7.5" barrel - Very good condition. - Mostly gray-brown metal with some light roughness, with maybe 20% bright blue remaining on frame; some deep pits on left side loading lever. Good markings include mixed numbers, frame 4953, barrel 2435, cylinder 4046. Good mech & bore. Very good grips may be replacements. Backstrap inscription "Pablo Lopez / Juarez" appears to be period. From the Bruce McDowell collection. Converted by removing rear of cylinder & installing ring; loading lever left intact. With lightweight flap holster possibly a bit later than the gun. - An internet search for Lopez finds the following info: "1916 - January. Villista Pablo Lopez attacks and kills 15 American miners at Santa Isabel, Chihuahua. Lopez quickly becomes the number two target of the United States behind Villa. Lopez was captured by Carrancista troops and allegedly executed. There is some debate as to weather the corpse actually shown to US troops was the body of Lopez". It appears Lopez was a key figure, who was executed by firing squad - s/n 4953 - antq - item #AZ-RS4953 - $4,500 |
