What's this weird deal about missing some of the best listings of guns for sale?

If you aren't a subscriber to our mail order catalog, the Old Town Station Dispatch, you never see some of our most interesting guns or our best bargains.  Here's why:

I started business with my mail order catalog.  For over 12 years, I've told my subscribers that I won't offer a gun that I buy for inventory for sale until AFTER their catalogs have been mailed to them, so they aren't getting "sloppy seconds" of only the guns that didn't sell at the last gun show, or on an internet auction.

If you want first dibs on our best finds, simply SUBSCRIBE to the snail mail catalog.

Subscription cost is $35 U.S., or $50 International.  You get about 2 years of catalogs for this price.  Jennifer can take a Visa or Mastercard charge subscription at 913-492-3000, 9am - 4pm Central, or mail a check to Old Town Station, POB 14040, Lenexa KS 66285.

When we mail out a new catalog (usually about three times a year), there's a huge rush of orders, and guns are committed on a "first come, first served" basis.

After the rush of orders from the snail mail catalog slows down, I list the remaining guns on this website.  Usually about 25% to 50% of our new listings have sold before they ever appear on the website.

I'm the only dealer I know of who has this approach.  Mean while, our website has grown into possibly the most popular on the internet for antique & collector guns for sale (google ranked #1 for "antique guns for sale", and a bunch of other categories)

I'm not sure that I'll stick with this approach forever, and have put my snail mail subscribers on notice that I may change the policy at some time, primarily because it doesn't make a lot of economic sense to pay the print, postage, & effort that goes into the snail mail catalog when the internet is so fast, cheap & easy, especially considering the overwhelming popularity of ArmchairGunShow.com.  For the time being however, if you are serious about gun collecting, I'd strongly recommend a subscription.  If I do change this policy, I'll do my best to see that my subscribers continue to get some special consideration.

My daddy told me "dance with the one what brung you".  Our subscribers brought us, and I won't forget that.

Thanks! -- Jim Supica, Pres., Old Town Station, Ltd.
