Colt - New Service - Chief of Police presentation revolver w/ shooting award nightstick - .38 WCF; 7.5" barrel. - Excellent condition. - Great historic law enforcement set. 24" turned hardwood nightstick has a silver presentation plaque reading "Presented by Chief McFarland to C.C. HEDRICK - Best Score at Police Shooting Tournament Dec. 24 1898". Revolver sideplate is inscribed "Presented to C.C. HEDRICK 1930". Previous owner reports that Hedrick had become Chief of Police in Leavenworth Kansas during his career, and that this revolver was a presentation upon retirement. Research in progress. - Sideplate appears to have been refinished, probably after inscription. Grip straps are turning plum. Elsewhere this revolver retains 97% of original blue; with markings, bore, mech & grip all excellent. - s/n 271584 - FFL - item # HC-LVNW - $2,750

Colt - Officers Model 32 - 3rd Issue Heavy Barrel revolver, in box. - .32 Colt - 6" barrel. - Condition is excellent plus. - Crisp w/ 98-99% original blue. Excellent mech, bore & wood medallion grips. Patent dates end 1926. - In a tattered and repaired box for this model, with black end label. - [ks8f] - s/n643074 - FFL - item #HCP9-10 - $1,675

Colt - New Service - Old Model revolver - .45 Colt - 5.5" barrel. - Excellent condition. - Crisp metal w/ 95-97% original blue remaining; some muzzle wear; under strong light you can see finish thinning & a few small spots of patina coming through. - Excellent mech, bore & hard rubber grips. - [ks8f] - s/n22504 - C&R ffl - item #HCP6-04 - $1,275

Colt - Official Police - pre-war revolver - .38 Special - 5" barrel. - Condition is as new to excellent. - Extremely crisp; 99%++ original blue; appears almost new & about unfired. Excellent mech, bore, & silver medallion checkered wood grips. Patent dates end 1926. - [ks8f] - s/n586804 - FFL - item #HCP9-05 - $825

Colt - New Service - Old Model revolver - 38 WCF (.38-40) - 5.5" barrel. - Fine condition. - About 70% original blue; balance patina; crisp markings & edges. Muted case colors on hammer. Excellent mech, bore & hard rubber grips. Front sight probably slightly lowered. - [ks8f] - s/n8434 - C&R ffl - item #HCP9-02 - $835

Colt - New Service - Improved / Late Model revolver - .44 Russian & S&W Special - 5.5" barrel. - Excellent condition. - 95-97% original blue; fine mech & bore. Minor handling marks to fine hard rubber grips. - This interesting revolver represents a transition period between Improved & Late Model New Services. Late Model features include rounded thumbpiece and bolstered barrel, with the unmatted topstrap & round rear sight notch of the Improved Model. A rare sub-variation for the serious New Service collector. - [ks8f] - s/n327629 - C&R ffl - item #HCP6-03 - $875

Colt - Police Positive Special - 2nd Issue revolver - 32-20 (.32 WCF) - 4" barrel. - Excellent condition. - 98-99% original blue; "GIL" lightly scratched on right side frame. Excellent mech & bore, appears fired very little if at all. Good checkered silver medallion grips w/ usage dings & chips or notches to bottom edges. Last patent date 1926. - [ks8f] - s/n412965 - C&R ffl - item #HCP9-04 - $595

Special order Colt New Army revolver - with unique features. - .38 Long Colt; 6” barrel. - Condition is excellent plus. - Extremely crisp metal with about 97% of the original bright Colt blue; slight wear on front grip strap & cylinder edges; 99% nitre blue on hammer edges & trigger; excellent markings.  Recoil shield appears as almost unfired.  Excellent mech & bore.  Smooth wood grips, quite rare on a civilian model, are in excellent condition.  RAC appears on bottom of barrel & bottom of left grip panel, showing leftover military parts used for this special order gun.  Barrel patent dates  of 1884, 88, & 95.  Latest style frame w/ rear sight groove relief & elimination of triggerguard step.  With copy of a Colt factory letter showing shipped July 2,1907, to John V. Varick Co. of Manchester NH, 6”, .38/c, blue, wood, with Special Features of “Straight cylinder and large bore”, one of two guns in the shipment. -   These special feature listings are a bit puzzling.  My guess is that this late production gun may have been special ordered with wood grips, and specified as chambered for .38 Long Colt, NOT .38 Special.  This would require the earlier, slightly larger diameter bore, which would be obtainable by utilizing a leftover earlier military barrel.  Likewise, the wood grips requirement would be easiest met by using leftover Army grips. Whatever the explanation, it's an exceptional condition example, and a very rare variation; I'd think a good one to snatch up now in this emerging collector field. - s/n 279289 - C&R - item #HC-9289 - $2,350

Colt US Army Model 1901 - military revolver - .38 US Svc; 6” barrel - Condition is excellent plus. - Very crisp metal; left side 98-99% original blue, right side 95-97% due to flaked spots & light cleaning marks on sideplate.  Standard military markings with 1902 dated frame.  Excellent mech & bore.  Excellent grips w/ strong RAC cartouches. - Extremely crisp martial Colt, in a later plain brown cardboard box. - s/n 178634 - C&R - item #HC-8634-bx - $1,500

Colt - U.S. Army Model 1901 - revolver, with holster. - .38 Colt; 6" barrel. - About fine under paint - A more interesting gun than I thought when I first looked it. What looked like a bad refinish turned out to be an old coat of paint that is fairly easy to rub off, with quite a bit of blue underneath, maybe 80-90% on frame & cylinder, 60-70% on barrel. Needs some more cleaning in crevices, but the stuff comes off with your fingernail or light rub of brass wool. Good mech, bore & smooth wood grips. Butt markings a bit faint, probably reworked by the military at some point. - With a nice heavy leather full flap holster with a purse type latch. - s/n 175203 - C&R ffl - item #HC-5203 - $485

Colt - U.S. Army Model 1901 - .38 Colt; 6” barrel. - About Very Good condition. - 30-40% original blue; balance mottled gray & plum; fine markings include L.E.B. & RAC on frame; standard U.S. mkgs on butt.  Working double action only, does not hold cock in SA mode; firing pin tip broken.  Smooth wood military grips refinished. - s/n 165635 - C&R - item #HC-5636 - $385

Early Colt US Army .38 DA - reworked by Colt to US Army Model 1901 configuration - & then by Remington for WWI Navy issue. - .38 US Svc; 6” barrel - About excellent metal; battered wood. - Cylinder & frame 90%, barrel 70% military refurbished bright blue.  Mostly intact wood grip have heavy usage marks.  Good mech, excellent bore.  Excellent markings tell this gun's story.  “US ARMY MODEL 1901” with 3 digit serial number & lanyard ring on the butt show this as a Colt factory rework of an earlier US model to 1901 configuration. - “L.E.B.” shows this gun went to Remington's Bridgeport plant for a 2nd rework, this time for WWI military service.  The vast majority of the Rem reworks went to Navy service (altho Army marked).  Cylinder & yoke have the naval I in star inspector mark, w/ crane number not matching rest of gun, suggesting perhaps a shipboard swap or replacement. - s/n 366 - C&R - item #HC-366 - $625

Colt - US Army Model 1896 military revolver - reworked by Colt to Model 1901 configuration, and so remarked. - .38 US Svc; 6” barrel - About fine condition. - About 70% Colt bright blue from their rework of this revolver for the Army; fine markings.  Seems to be missing trigger return & hand springs; otherwise functional.  Excellent bore.  Very good smooth wood military grips. - Revolver is in the Model 1896 s/n range, and was doubtless so originally manufactured.  Per Colt's practice, it was marked with US ARMY MODEL 1909 when they refurbished it for the military & added the lanyard ring (now missing, but hole is there). See Best's comments on page 182 of his book. - s/n 140789 - C&R - item #HC-0789 - $625

Colt US Army Model 1901 - Remington rework for WWI - .38 US Svc; 6” barrel - Excellent condition. - Extremely crisp metal; gripstraps have about turned gray, but remainder of gun retains about 95% of what looks to me like original bright Colt blue.  “L.E.B.” marking on frame indicates refurbishment by Remington for WWI issue, with the vast majority of these “ARMY” marked reworks going to the Navy, but my guess would be that it's unlikely this gun was refinished as part of that process, due to quality of blue & crispness of other original Colt military markings (RAC's, J.T.T., 1902, standard US ARMY butt markings, etc.) - Working; excellent bore.  Excellent replaced varnished smooth wood grips are a bit undersized. - s/n 176486 - C&R - item #HC-6486 - $850

Colt US Army Model 1901 - military revolver - unusual s/n  - .38 US Svc; 6” barrel - Fine condition. - Barrel & frame 80% bright Colt blue, cyl. 30%; excellent markings include usual US ARMY MODEL 1901 on butt, RAC inspection marks, with matching numbers.  Working; excellent bore.  Minor handling marks to military smooth wood grips. - As best I can tell, this s/n is an orphan, too low to be an original 1901, but too high to be within any of the known Army Model 1894 or 1896 purchases.  Am I missing something?  I find this intriguing, but then, I amuse easily. - s/n 158144 - C&R - item #HC-8144 - $650

Colt US Army Model 1901 - military revolver - .38 cal; 6” barrel. - Probably arsenal reworked; about excellent. - Maybe 85% soft arsenal blue; bright nitre blue on hammer edges & trigger.  Working with heavy DA pull, excellent bore, good smooth wood grips. US ARMY top portion of grip butt marking is no longer visible, whether lost during rework or intentionally removed I can't say;  J.T.T. acceptance is faint.  Other markings intact, including barrel w/ 1884, 88 & 95 patent dates, and RAC inspector marks on bbl & cyl.   - Bottom of barrel marked with P, K & 0564, so probably changed during rework or elsewhen.  Front sight has been lowered by filing.  Bought this gun described as an Army 1894, & didn’t check it out until it was too late to return. My loss, your gain, offered for less than I paid for it. - s/n 179044 - C&R - item #HC-9044 - $475

Colt - U.S. Army Model 1903 - .38 Colt; 6” barrel. - Good condition. - Mottled gray metal; markings intact.  Working but loose; good bore.  Smooth wood grips, right cracked & chipped, left marked RAC on bottom, no cartouche remaining.  Missing lanyard ring.  Standard military markings on butt. - s/n 242000 - C&R - item #HC-2000 - $285

Colt - New Army & Navy Revolver - .38 Colt; 4.5" barrel. - Fine to excellent condition. - Left side 97% original bright nickel, right side more like 80% due to bubbling nickel sideplate & barrel, & some loss of plating on cylinder (light gray metal well blended. 90% brilliant fire blue hammer edges, trigger & screws. Excellent markings include 3 line barrel address ending in Mar 5 ’95 patent date. Very good mech & bore. - According to Bob Best’s book on this model, the N stamped in the yoke cutout of the frame would indicate a Civilian New Navy Model of 1895 revolver. However, the excellent hard rubber grips are the "Army" pattern with the flowers flanking the rampant colt logo. The grips fit well, but have the number "314" scratched inside each panel, suggesting they may be off a different gun. - s/n 163355 - FFL - item # HC-16355 - $650

Colt US Model 1896 - military revolver - with holster - .38 US Svc; 5.25” cut barrel - Refinished. - Flash zing!  95% sunglasses bright plating job; no barrel markings remain (THAT's what I call POLISH!)  Matter of fact, no front sight remains.  (THAT's what I call a KING KONG POLISH!).  US ARMY marks on butt remain.  Some flaking on cylinder, but who's counting?  Surprisingly tight mech, good bore.  Good sanded smooth wood grips. - It's a gun!  It's US military!  It doubles as a signal mirror if lost in the wilderness!  Your significant other can use it to check her makeup while she drives, without getting honked at!  And, best of all YOU NEED IT!  AND it's got a holster! - s/n 140550 - C&R - item #HC-0550 - $285

Colt - Officers Model 38 Heavy Barrel revolver - .38 Special; 6” barrel. - Condition is excellent plus. - 99% original blue w/ hint of muzzle wear; extremely crisp overall.  Excellent mech & bore.  Trigger shoe added.  Replaced Herretts grips w/ light handling marks. - s/n 641049 - FFL - item #HC-1049 - $585

  DAN WESSON & RUGER REVOLVERS:

Ruger - Super Single Six - convertible revolver, with box - .22 LR & Mag. - 5.5" barrel. - Very good condition. - 95-97% original finish w/ some wear at muzzle, edges of grip frame & end of ejector housing; small flaked area on backstrap. Working; 4 click tumbler, no transfer bar safety. Light usage marks to wood grips. With spare cylinder & original SC5 black top Ruger box. - [cons.eemo.otsprc] - s/n60-23916 - FFL - item #HR-22EE - $325

Dan Wesson .44 Magnum revolver - U.S. Constitution 200th Anniversary Commemorative - by American Historical Foundation - .44 Magnum; 9.75” barrel. - As new in case. - Decorated with gold trim, and lettering including ornate “We the People of the United States…”.  Ivory type grips w/ American shield inlaid & inscribed “J.A.S.”.  Perfect condition throughout.  In vertical glass front display case with copy of the Constitution for a background; case has minor handling blemishes to wood. - Fewer than 1000 of these were made, ca. 1987. - s/n CC076 - FFL - item #HX-W076 - $875
